Vitamin C and Your Face

Ascorbic Acid, also known as Vitamin C, is listed in many skin care products and is used in eye creams for treating discoloration of the skin associated with aging, pregnancy, and scarring. It helps protect against free radicals by neutralizing them. It can protect against damage from sun exposure but cannot be used as a sun screen by itself. Vitamin C must be present for collagen growth. Applied in cream form, twenty times the amount of vitamin C that is normally found can be provided to the skin. Regular use of products properly formulated with vitamin C can take 5 to 10 years off one's appearance. This is why it is found in some of the better facial creams and serums

In general, Vitamin C must be ground to an extremely fine powder. When you are ready to create your own skin care items remember to blend your Ascorbic Acid just before you are ready to use it . Add ¼ cup of water to half a teaspoon and mix until well dissolved (it takes a few seconds). Apply with cotton wool or similar to skin. Leave on, or rinse if it stings. Applying the proper cream afterward, probably one with Vitamin E, will do the trick.

Another function for topical vitamin C preparations is skin lightening. To this end, vitamins C is often found in creams that also have Kojic Acid, Horse chestnut, or other ingredients used to lift discoloration from the tissues. It is also used in eye creams formulated to get rid of dark circles under the eyes, so think about making a special cream for that area, once you have your main face cream just the way you like it!

Unlocking the Hidden Spa Secrets of India

If you think about Spas, especially with respect to the treatment methodologies and practices available then undoubtedly the place to go to for some of the world's finest treatments would be India.

India as has once been described is one of the Spa world’s greatest trust funds. When you consider it; that is not that an unusual description especially for a country that gave us such a wealth and breadth of wonderful treatments.

It is amazing quite how often treatments have originated from India and gone on to be in such demand worldwide. The leading ones including the following: Abhyanga, Shirodhara, Yoga, Meditation, Ayurveda, Doshas and Chakras.

Yet the surprising thing about this is that despite the wide variety of treatments that have originated from India, the whole concept of spas and western-style health resorts almost definitely is a recent phenomenon with regards to India.

It was said in the old days that if you wanted to “steam”, all you had to do was step out into the baking heat of the Indian summer and the fat and cellulite would pour off you in a few minutes. That having said that there were always the centuries old tradition of the various therapies practiced at Hindu ashrams (monastic retreats) throughout the country.

These offered a wide variety of holistic and life enhancing treatments such as Ayurveda and Yoga amongst others. However, modern day India has joined the western worlds demand for more and more exclusive and exquisite treatments with a vengeance.

Today, there is nothing you cannot get in Indian Spas and to be quite frank they do it by and large a lot better than most elsewhere. From packaged contortion, aromatic rubs, aura imaging and herbal body pummelling – all are available aplenty within the fast growing market for Spas in India.

However it has to be said that it is the traditional Ayurvedic Spa treatments that flourish like a cottage industry in the southern state of Kerala that really encompass and represent India.

Like the vast range geographic and climatic differences that make up India the treatments are accordingly wide and varied. In Ananda, high up in the Himalayas where a wellness sanctuary situated in a restored royal palace in the Himalayan foothills claims to have the world's oldest billiards table you can get the benefit of therapeutic treatments based on traditional Ayurvedic and yoga meditation.

From here you can drop down to the historic valley of India’s sacred Ganges River at Rishikesh where each and every day at Sunset you can witness the Ganga Maha Aarti, a 90 minute ceremony of music and chanting that takes place at an ashram on the bank of the river – so there is plenty of relaxation for mind as well as soul!

For the more selective jetsetter travelling within India are a chain of Hotels dotted throughout the north and west of the country managed by Oberoi Hotels. With Wellness Spas provided by Banyan Tree they are much favoured by corporate travellers especially.

In a lot of cases the Hotel industry has benefited in a rather weird and roundabout manner from India’s emergence into a twenty first century democracy. When British rule was abolished in the late 1940’s and India gained independence, the large number of Maharajas that had benefited rather well from British rule had their vast incomes from land taken away from them and by and large left with only their real estate or palaces.

The far seeing and forward thinking amongst them realised that there was income and profit to be had from converting these incredibly impressive palaces into modern day hotels and the luxury hotel and spa market in India took off with a vengeance.

It has not looked back since.

Say 'No' To Aging - Anti-Aging Secrets

We all have seen our grandparents and parents grow old and most of us protest against the idea of aging in the same ways they did. In fact, we look for safer, more convenient and medically sound way to live longer, empower ourselves, and remain healthy throughout life. We may refer to it as 'quality longevity.' The everyday choices that we make have a greater impact on us than genetics, which account for only one-third of what determines our health as we age.

Hence, the quality of life is very much in our hands. Empowering ourselves for the future requires learning new skills as well as honing the ones we already have. Try some of these strategies to live longer, feel and look younger.

Sharpen your mind:

A sharp mind helps in staying fit. We're more inclined to have good relationships, eat well and live a healthy lifestyle with a sharper mind. Doing mental aerobics can improve memory and lower your risk for Alzheimer's disease. A recent study found that when we keep our minds active, brain efficiency increases dramatically, even after just a few weeks. Try different approaches to expanding your mental horizons, whether it's travelling to new destinations, learning a musical instrument, or going back to school. Stay mentally active through puzzles, games, reading and other stimulating hobbies, but be sure to train and not strain your brain.

Cultivate healthy relationships:

Socially connected people have longer life expectancies than isolated individuals. Cultivate intimacy with your partner since good sex makes for a longer life. Not only does it bring people closer together, it lowers blood pressure, reduces pain, promotes restful sleep and boosts the immune system so we are better able to fight off infections. Our ability to understand another person's emotional viewpoint and to express that understanding is the social glue that keeps us together.

Reduce stress:

We can't completely eliminate stress from our lives, but we can learn healthier responses to it. We all can try to minimise stress to live longer and better. You can do it in many ways. Like control clutter in your home. Get more realistic about how much you take on each day. Try eliminating just a few items from your to-do list. Regular meditation reduces stress and also boosts the immune system. Empower yourself with the word 'no.'

Think positive:

Optimists have a greater life expectancy than pessimists. Make an effort to see the cup half-full. Recent studies show that we can learn optimism when we set our minds to it. Discover your spiritual life. Attending a house of worship once a week is associated with a seven-year-longer survival compared with never attending. Take care of your needs. Satisfied people are twice as likely to survive compared with dissatisfied individuals.

Manage your environment:

Our environment has a big influence on how we feel and how long we live. Whether it's traffic, noise, or other aspects of the environment at large, or more personal environmental issues such as aesthetics or bedroom temperature, our 'quality longevity' requires that we not only adapt to these influences but learn to shape them to meet our individual tastes and needs. Bear in mind function and aesthetics when designing your home and workspace. Manage your technology to avoid information overload.

Natural Cures, If Your Doctor Is Clueless, Educate Yourself.

You do not have to be a weirdo to believe in natural cures. Contrary to what the big pharmaceutical companies say are think; natural cures work. It is important to educate yourself and understand that resources are available to help you make informed decisions.

Maybe the question you are asking yourself is , what are natural cures? Do they bring about results? The reply lies in history and folklore. Prior to the breakthrough of penicillin, all we had to rely on were natural cures. What is astonishing is that, in every civilization and surroundings, plant medicines were made use of with great success as treatments for the day-to-day ills that plagued mankind. In third-world countries nowadays, plant medicines are the lone choice. Formulations of plants are still successful curatives, although the large pharmaceutical manufacturers would like you to think differently.

In today's populace, we find ourselves beleaguered with ailments, diseases and conditions that were obscure fifty years ago. Your grandmother likely never heard of restless leg syndrome or ADHD. It's plenty to make you question if your doctor's prescription for that twinge in your legs is the most beneficial course of action. Is the modern diagnosis of attention deficit disorder logical, or do you merely have a unruly kid? Is it essential to take that prescription medication to shed light on the problem? Do you marvel why in times past, people treated these problems with natural cures?

For instance, Peruvian bark, a.k.a. Cinchona, renders quinine, a natural cure for malaria. Modern medicine has not trumped quinine as a natural cure.

A youngster diagnosed with attention deficit disorder may easily be treated with a numerate of natural remedies to ease bursts of unquiet energy. The inability to center attention may well lie in the channels of conventional maturation and resolve naturally over time. Chamomile, passion flower, lemon balm and skullcap teas are potent natural cures for unrest. Children in general outgrow a lack of attention span.

If you know a minor diagnosed with attention deficit disorder, it's improbable that natural cures have been applied. ADD is looked upon an unsuitable circumstance of excitement, with the child not able to concentrate on the content close at hand. As a matter of fact, alot of, if not most, children present this inability at respective points of normal evolution. A physician may dictate shots of Ritalin to repress these insufferable symptoms.

Natural cures are established over time, and have history behind them. Before you run to the doctor with a complaint, do a bit of inquiry on your symptoms. Yet well-entrenched ills like arthritis have several natural cures that work.

The final result is that many a modern ailment, with a scary name or description , can be addressed naturally, without a lifelong allegiance to medications. Natural cures are oftentimes your best alternative, getting to the root causal agent of your hurt and adjudicating the symptoms.

Natural herbal cures, as a principle, tend to bring equilibrium and harmony, accosting the cause rather than the symptoms. Addressing the cause, rather than the symptoms, is superior, bringing about a permanent change that profits the patient and frees them from a lifelong loyalty to medications.

Antique Jewelry - Getting to grips with the basics of Antique Jewelry

For those with a real love of Antique Jewelry, by now you will have realised that it can cost substantial amounts of money. But if you spend some time learning how to buy antique jewelry wholesale, you can save yourself heaps.

In the age of the Web , it is common for people to head for online auction sites, such as eBay, in the hope of finding a bargain. Amongst thousands trying to do the same thing there is going to be massive competition. Sadly again, you are likely to find that the seller has just as much if not more experience as you have and as such they will have priced their auction correctly.

This does not mean that bargains cannot be found at online auctions. It's still worth keeping an eye on the more popular sites, just in case. Remember to keep an eye out in several sections as well as just the antiques section. An essential part of using online auctions is to establish the credibility of your seller before you enter in a bid. At times like these it is probably advisable to make sure you have access to the services of a credible escrow service. More importantly, communicate with the seller to make sure you understand exactly what you're buying.

The Internet is not your only resource on bargain jewelry to be had if you know where to look, there are equally valuable resources available elsewhere. Remember sometimes to find the best results you need to be able to look in areas others simply cannot compete in. One great resource is your local newspaper. there is a possibility that the seller might be slightly ignorant of what it is they have to sell. This has to increase your chances of getting a bargain from local sources.

If you're going to trawl local sales for bargains, though, don't make it too obvious when you're interested in a piece of jewelry. |Try not to make it too obvious that you are interested to a certain item if you are going to try and search for bargains local sales. | It is unwise to show interest too soon in any one category and this may cause the seller to increase their charges Too much interest too soon can alert the owner and you are likely to put them off. After all, if you're familiar with antique jewelry then your hunch is probably right. You may well find that you actually say more by taking the jewelry off site once you've bought it and confirming your suspicions in private.

This means that you may end up buying some worthless junk along the way, but that's okay. The genuine pieces you find will more than make up for the few bucks you spend on false starts.

Once you find your first bargain it is entirely possible that you become addicted to the entire process. In a lot of cases estate sales can produce better returns even if they are more infrequent than yard sales. It happens quite regularly that the grandchildren of some wealthy families are completely unaware as to the value of their family’s jewelry.

Their motivation may be purely driven by the fact that they desperately need the money. Sadly in today’s world this may be more and more common as the heirs of formerly wealthy families come to realise that the upkeep of family homes can be more expensive than foreseen.

The immune system

The immune system
The key to a robust immune system lies in a healthy lifestyle, with nutritious food and a minimum of stress and pollution. Adequate amounts of protein essential fatty acids vitamins A, B, C, E, and minerals: copper, iron, magnesium, selenium, and zinc are vital to normal production of white blood cells and antibodies. Immunity can be boosted by increasing intake of these and by immune-enhancing herbs such as garlic, Echinacea, licorice, and ginseng. Fever is a symptom of the body's fight against infection, helping to resolve it, and should not be suppressed. At the first sign, fast to boost the immune system and drink plenty to assist elimination. Take raw garlic in honey, peerless, or juice every 2-3 hours, mixed with licorice. Take frequent hot herbal teas of lime flower, boneset, chamomile, elderflower, yarrow, and peppermint, singly or in combinations, to hasten elimination of heat and toxins. Hot drinks of lemon and honey, blackcurrant, or beetroot juice increase resistance and provide extra vitamin C. Use essential oils of lavender, chamomile, and eucalyptus in herbal baths, hand and foot baths, and inhalations. When the immune system reacts against non-infectious substances, there is an allergic response as the body attempts to eliminate the allergens. Treatment involves improving nutrition, temporarily avoiding the allergen, and balancing the digestive and immune systems. You may need to take, either as teas or tinctures, a combination of Echinacea, red clover, and borage with licorice 3 times daily over several months. You can add marshmallow or slippery elm to soothe the digestive tract, and dandelion root to support the liver and the digestive tract. Chamomile and yarrow tea is a natural antihistamine to take frequently with acute allergies. Nettles in teas or soup help calm the allergic response. Candida albicans or thrush flourishes when the immune system is weakened by infection, diabetes, long-term or repeated antibiotics, oral contraceptives, steroids, and nutritional deficiencies particularly of iron and zinc. Pregnant women are prone to vaginal thrush and may pass it on to the baby. It can also affect the digestive tract, causing general illness, and food and yeast allergies. You should take antifungal herbs pot marigold, chamomile, thyme, or golden seal regularly in teas or tinctures, adding Echinacea to boost the immune system. Garlic and olive oil on salads or garlic peerless will help check the infection. For oral thrush, make a mouthwash of thyme and pot marigold tea, allow cooling and adding 1 drop of thyme or oregano oil and using 2-3 times daily. For vaginal thrush use these teas or tinctures as a douche, or soak a tampon or pad to use for an hour twice daily. Bathing in chamomile tea or applying live plain yogurt to the area can bring great relief. Warnings do not use douches if you are pregnant.
